It seems our roster is somewhat set now. So, based on this roster of 12.5, the per player share of $986 is $78.88, which means your captain is pocketing $1.12 off of those that paid $80. I am unrepentent. The balance has now been paid.
Fees outstanding: Kory, Seunghee, Julie.
Welcome to Julie, a B level player and latest addition to our roster, who will hopefully be coming out to the April 24th practice (and did, and was great!). Seung Hee is still in the midst of deciding. Update: Seunghee has decided we don't actually bite and is in!
Confirmed (men): James, Rod, David, Nicholas, Kory, Chad
Confirmed (women): Jen, Jo, Wendy, Ivy, Julie, Seunghee
Subs: JP, Kevin, Mara
Requirements: 1 woman; 1 man
Payment rec'd: David, Nicholas, Rod, Mara ($40) Jen, Chad, Ivy, Jo, Wendy
Waivered: James, Jo, Ivy, Rod, Mara, Nicholas, David, Seunghee, Julie, Chad
Our host, WordPress.com has added a widget for photos from Flickr. I have customized it so all photos tagged with "squidwranglers" will show up. If you have team photos, consider getting a Flickr account and uploading them. You only get 100 photos for the free version, but heh….free is free.
Sorry for the lateness of this post. There will be another practice this coming Monday, April 17th @ Douglas Park. Same time (6pm). Assume there will be a practice every subsequent Monday until the season starts.
Caveat: It's a holiday weekend. If enough people respond in the comments below that they won't be able to make it, so be it. As well, if there is heavy rain, don't bother.
At last night's practice, I made the claim that this blog was #1 in Google for the search term "Squid Wrangler". I was wrong, wrong in a way that might, if you were reflexively anti-James, be characterized as lying, but which I think would be more accurate to describe as selectively leaking without declassifying those parts which might cast doubt on the aforementioned claim. It's all the rage these days I'm told.
This is all to introduce this story about Squid Wranglers, which I discovered when actually searching Google to see if my claim was truthy.
Mara must bow out as a full-time player, due to a previous (and forgotten) commitment to a <cough> volleyball team. Let this be a lesson to all about the dangers of drink, memory and enthusiasm. We say hello to Chad. It was decided last night at practice that in addition to the return of The Madness, we would add one more man.

I lie below, you float above
In the pretty white ships that I’ve been dreaming of
And I’d like to swim beside you
Getting dizzy in your wake
Getting close enough to touch you
Getting brave enough to take you into my arms
And bring you down to be with me
But I can’t do that thing anymore
I can’t be the thing I was before
Maybe I am better off alone
Because I crush everything
And I crush everything
And I crush everything
My body’s strong, but my will is weak
I got pretty nice arms, but I hate my beak
And the dolphins are all phonies
They seem nice enough at first
They pretend to be your friends
Until they see you at your worst and then they leave you
Without a word they swim away
So I can’t do that thing anymore
I can’t be the thing I was before
Maybe I am better off alone
Because I crush everything
And I crush everything
And I crush everything
And everything I want I take
And everything I love I break
And every night I lie awake
Did the stars come out? Did the world spin round?
Does it matter that much when you’re ten miles down?
And in the light that filters down
Into my giant yellow eye
I can see the sails unfolding
Stretching white against the sky and I forgive them
I forgive and I let go
Cause I can’t do that thing anymore
I can’t be the thing I was before
Maybe I am better off alone
Because I crush everything
And I crush everything
And I crush everything
And I crush everything
And I crush everything
And I crush everything
I lie below, you float above
In the pretty white ships that I am dreaming of
Mewlings of Squidlings
